wood is good.

today we learned about log trucks. We learned how to  be safe  around the trucks and to be careful not to cross the road without the truck driver seeing you. And  to wear high vis or have a light to make sure they now your there and wont run you over.I also learnt about what truck drivers do and how they drive huge  trucks  full of wood. There were also  people who showed us and talked about wood and how we use it in our every day life. They told us about  how they measure a  tree, how many more trees they plant after they cut a tree down and what other jobs they do. They also played a video about keeping yourself safe around trucks. And one video about trees.

paintballl

laying in the damp moist grass the sun shines on you heating up your mask its boiling outside as  you can smell the plastic paint  drying in your clothes. Paint balls weaving through obstacle courses splatting on helmets. If you peep through a small broken piece of wood you can see other enemy snipers mask glancing through peep wholes. Pew pew pew!!! as you look up its raining paint balls striking opponents behind rusted   metal and broken down fences. People were hiding   against rusted metal and  tyres. lying down beside you struggling to run are your teammates. The floor was covered it paintball shells oozing out metallic paint its  a dirty mess.

Most of our class has  participated   by adding there name in  a box for the teacher to shake then to   call  people up to pick a name and thats who you are going to get a  present for. The present doesn’t have to be like a million dollars only five so then people dont have to worry.

my novel study.

this is my novel study  I had a great time reading my book and blogging about i

This book was written By Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake.

The best  age of the reader for this book; eleven

The  genre of this book is fiction

This story is about a small boy  Danny and his dad. They live  together in a small rusted  caravan on the top of  a hill. His dad owns a small filling station on the side of the road at the  bottom of the hill. One night William, Danny’s dad goes poaching for pheasants in the woods of  a grouchy old man Mr hazel. When Danny finds out he’s missing and goes out in the middle of the night to find him in a human trap of mr hazels in the woods. His dad was badly hurt but the next day they had  help from his good friend  doctor Spencer when his dad was well rested Danny  immediately wanted to go poaching with his dad. His dad is nervous if Danny comes with him, he could  get hurt by the keepers.  But when Danny comes up with an excellent, most brilliant idea  to get a raisin and put a Quarter of a sleeping pill inside and sew it back up, then lay two hundred of them scattered around the woods for the pheasants to peck at and swallow. Soon they will go up in the trees to nest and bam! It’s raining pheasants.  His dad is thrilled with the idea  and  imagines  the red wrinkly pig face of Mr Hazel’s when he notices his pheasants are gone before his shooting party.

This story is set on a hill with an old camper van and a filling station including the woods of mr haze’ls and the town nearby.

The main characters are a brilliant young child Danny who wants to grow up and be a mechanic like his dad. William is Danny’s father  who looks after him everyday and works hard in his shed to fix cars and get money for the both of them. Another character is doctor Spencer doctor Spencer  is  a small old man and  Williams  good Friend hazel Mr hazel is a rich man, he grins and then he smirks  as he rides his Rolls Royce. His glary eyes  and his furious frown is always yelling at you with his piggy mouth.

I think this book was great. It had twists and turns that made you curious what was next? The people in this book were described as you could picture in your head the story idea was an interesting topic and at the end of the book things went funny and made me laugh  as some things turned out great and some totally the other way. And  some of the characters were mad and enraged!.

This book is good for readers who like funny stories and  not too big of a book that would take weeks to read. It is a  great book to read at any time of the day and has excellent characters throughout the entire book. In every chapter there is always something happening. This book is also a book for kids that like at least a few photos every few pages.

our class is now swimming again in the pool. Now that its summer and warm the pool is super refreshing. Our pool Is shaped like a L and is not that big but we have enough room for  free time and doing laps i am getting better at doing laps faster and more accurate.

class mural.

In our classroom students have been chosen to paint a mural. We are half way there and it’s looking great  it has heaps of colours and  a sentence that says have a go!  we are making this mural for our new bike track on the top of  the hill up by the duck Pond. Not many students have gone up to the bike track  because it was just finished months ago and we need people to test it out first. There are heaps of bumpy trails and jumps you can do by the look of the track. Its swirly loops look fun and exciting and all of our murals will look great.

circus.

Our class went to a circus in kaitaia. We got there on a bus and there were heaps of other schools. As soon as we stepped inside we saw giant hula hoops, big stage unicycles and a l purple mustache man. It was incredible. They told us to settle down and sit in rows. Soon all the circus people started to introduce themselves and then showed us some tricks. Soon they let everyone go and do their own thing. I went straight to spinny plates and so did my friend. Most of the students from our class went in groups. The hall was so crowded you could get lost any second after an hour or so we had lunch  after lunch. We showed our talents in front of everyone. There were some good talents. after the talent show we

camp

Two classes from our school went to Lonsdale park  for camp and we had the best time ever. We went on trips to opononi, a sports centre and even a giant kauri tree. It was awesome.

When we got to camp everyone played games and set up their cabins. There were five cabins.

And  then we went on nature walks and fun games. We had game nights and mac and cheese  for dinner. Nights took a while to get to sleep but then you had to wake up at six thirty or Mrs Bates will. In the mornings we ate breakfast then got our day bags ready. Well packing our day bags we swung our feet over the bunks chatting to each other. We then went on long bus rides to tane mahuta and to watch a show  about Maori history there in opononi. We got back to camp and straight on to the  water slide. At the end of the day we  did skits and each cabin put on a small show. Soon we played spotlight in the woods. Before bed we ate cookies. The last afternoon at camp we went on blind courses and flying fox camp was awesome !!!
